Diet By Dr. A. A. Sheikh, G.A.M.S. · 4 Nov 2026 · 6 min read
No single food works like a medicine, but a regular diet rich in the right nutrients supports energy, hormones, circulation and sperm health. Ayurveda calls such foods Vrishya. Here are twelve easy Indian options.
Dates (khajoor)
Natural energy, iron and potassium. Two to three soaked dates in the morning are a classic Ayurvedic tonic.
Almonds and walnuts
Healthy fats, vitamin E and omega-3 that support circulation and sperm membranes.
Warm milk with a pinch of nutmeg or saffron
Traditionally used for strength and better sleep.
Pumpkin seeds
Rich in zinc, a key mineral for testosterone and sperm.
Eggs, paneer and dals
Good-quality protein for muscle and hormone health.
Amla
Vitamin C and antioxidants that protect sperm from damage.
Banana
Quick energy, potassium and vitamin B6.
Garlic
Supports healthy blood flow.
Pomegranate
Antioxidants linked to better circulation.
Green leafy vegetables
Folate and nitrates that support blood vessels.
Kalonji and til (sesame)
Traditional seeds with minerals and healthy fats.
Ghee in moderation
Valued in Ayurveda as a carrier for herbs and for Ojas (vitality).
What to avoid
Smoking, excess alcohol, very sugary drinks, deep-fried junk food and late-night heavy meals.
Stamina badhane ke liye kya khaye? (Hindi)
If you have diabetes, kidney disease or allergies, ask your doctor before changing your diet.
